Wonder and how that translates to the process of learning…

Children are curious and wonder is the act that begins our learning process. A child’s creative expression is how they communicate that with us and how our instructors nourish the learning process. For example we may start with a question about “where do seeds come from”? After brainstorming the idea and testing the theories through a series of explorations, we begin to unveil this wonder. We may do this by planting seeds, watching how roots systems grow, making salads from what fruited from those seeds or re-purposing parts of the plant for paper making. We have now explored this idea in a way that encourages the child to want to learn more and test theories in creative ways and through different lenses. This is the beauty of a child-centric approach. We as instructors are engaged in learning from our students as much as they are in learning from us. We document this process through different mediums and showcase the ideas in our classroom for the students and parents throughout the year.
